The DIEFI2 project has officially started, bringing together five European partners from two countries in a collaborative research effort to advance digitalisation, traceability, and sustainability in industrial environments, with a particular focus on the food sector.
The project’s mission is to enhance product quality, production efficiency, and operational safety through intelligent digital processes. Central to DIEFI2 is the development of a comprehensive digital timeline enabling full end-to-end traceability — from raw materials to final packaging and quality control.
During the Kick-off meeting, consortium partners aligned on the scientific and technical objectives, with particular emphasis on the research and integration of advanced sensor technologies.
These sensors are designed to capture real-time production data while operating under demanding industrial conditions.
Early discussions also addressed key challenges such as data reliability, communication latency, and interoperability with existing systems. Secure communication modes and adaptable Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) were identified as essential to transform raw sensor data into actionable insights.
This Kick-off marked the foundation of a close and coordinated collaboration between research and industrial partners, setting the stage for the development of scalable, secure, and data-driven solutions for modern food manufacturing.
